Contemporary Coastal Reflections II

Lattimer Gallery will be hosting the 'Contemporary Coastal Reflections II' graduation show, beginning May 23, 2009. Last spring, Lattimer Gallery hosted the graduation show for the first annual Northwest Coast Jewellery Arts Program, an introductory course in design and jewellery-making taught by Kwakwaka’wakw/Haida artist, Dan Wallace. The show was titled 'Contemporary Coastal Reflections' and it was a great success, with all of the fourteen students being able to present and sell their first jewellery pieces here at the gallery.

This accredited program received funding through ACCESS British Columbia for a second year, and Lattimer Gallery is honoured to host the graduation show and to produce the accompanying catalogue once again. 'Contemporary Coastal Reflections II' will feature the work of nineteen students: Crystal Bee (Kwakwaka’wakw), Joe Bolton (Haisla), Floyd Brown (Haida), David Gonzalas (Coast Salish), David Jack (Coast Salish), Rachel Langford (Haida), Sharifah Marsden (Ojibway), Gordon Moody (Nuxalk), Ryan Morin (Cree), Marcus Ogalvie (Coast Salish), Archie Patrick (Carrier), Dona Point (Coast Salish), Ward Prince (Cree), Terry Starr (Tsimshian), Ernie Swanson (Haida), Gordon White (Haida), Andy Williams (Haida), Bernie Williams (Haida) and Freddie Wilson (Haida).

We welcome you to come and meet the artists, enjoy some refreshments, and peruse the beautiful artwork. The 'Contemporary Coastal Reflections II' opening will run from 4pm to 7pm, and much of the jewellery presented will be available for purchase. If you are unable to make it to the opening, 'Contemporary Coastal Reflections II' will run until June 13, 2009. This is your chance to take part in the future of Northwest Coast Native jewellery!
