Early this month, Simon Fraser University's Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology won the bi-annual World Summit Award from the United Nations for their website/multimedia project A Journey into Time Immemorial. The WSA is a "global initiative to select and promote the world's best e-Content and innovative ICT applications" and it was established in 2003. This website beat out over 20,000 projects from 157 countries to win the award. A Journey into Time Immemorial is a web-based project that is dedicated to displaying and explaining the XÁ:YTEM historial site in Mission, BC. This site is home to a Stó:lo Nation dwelling that was discovered during excavations in 1990, with items from the dwelling radiocarbon dating back to 3,650 B.C. The site contains a huge amount of information about the site and the Stó:lo Nation, and its Flash elements, pop-up video clips and fluid navigation system make it incredibly user-friendly.
