Victoria's Eagle Project

The Eagle Project, which is operated with provincial funding through the Victoria Native Friendship Centre, is now in its second year. This 12-week job re-entry program has been designed especially for Aboriginal BC residents who are looking for a way to fuse employment with cultural values.

It is based on wood carving, but it also provides participants with:

- Food Safe Level 1
- Serving it Right
- First Aid/CPR
- Customer Service Skills

For each intake, Kwakwaka'wakw artist Carey Newman manages a totem pole carving project. Participants not only learn carving techniques, but they also learn life skills such as patience and determination.
