Canadian Aboriginal Writing & Arts Challenge

An initiative of the Historica-Dominion Institute, the Canadian Aboriginal Writing and Arts Challenge (www.our-story.ca) calls on Aboriginal writers and artists between the ages of 14-29 for submissions relating to heritage and identity every year. In its eighth year, the Challenge is accepting 2000 word stories and two-dimensional works until March 31, 2011.

Emerging writers and artists have their work judged by established figures in the field, including Kent Monkman and Stan Bevan. Every year, hundreds of Canadian youth are inspired to share their works. Through writing and art, courageous young members of the community have come forward to interpret their heritage, community and culture while bringing awareness to Aboriginal identity.

The Challenge is offering a $2,000.00 top prize, and they will fly the winner to a city in Canada to recieve the award. Winning works will also be published in Canadian History Magazine.
