The 11th Annual Talking Stick Festival begins today, February 20th and runs until March 4th, 2012. Featuring national and international Aboriginal artists and performers, this citywide festival provides the stage for live music, dance, theatre, multi-media and performance art which celebrate and honor Aboriginal art in its traditional and contemporary forms.
Included in this festival is an exhibition at the Roundhouse that displays the interpretations of the Talking Stick from nine different artists, based on contemporary or traditional versions. The artists are Rebecca Belmore, Lance Cardinal, Merritt Johnson, Peter Morin, Dionne Paul, Michelle Sylliboy, Janice Toulouse, Charlene Vickers, and Xwalacktun (Rick Harry).
