February 23, 2009
We were very happy to have been asked to donate thank you gifts for the performers of the An Evening with Diana Krall event which was held in Vancouver on February 16th, 2009. This event has been held annually since 2004 to raise funds for cancer research and has been extremely successful. The event included performances by James Taylor, Elton John, Elvis Costello and Diana Krall, as well as live and silent auctions. The silent auction included a hand-painted, turned Maple burl vessel titled 'A New Day' by renowned Kwakwaka'wakw artist, Steve Smith (Dla'kwagila). The evening, which was emceed by Vancouver talk show personality Vicky Gabereau, generated over $2,000,000.00 for cancer research at VGH and the UBC hospitals. We were pleased to commission five sterling silver bracelets from Ojibway/Saulteaux artist, Kelvin Thompson, which were presented to the performers and the emcee. We appreciated having the opportunity to give back to the community through such an amazing and unique event.
