On July 23, Vancouver's Tom Lee Music unveiled an amazing Model D Steinway & Sons classical piano that has been painted by celebrated Haida/Blackfoot artist, Jay Simeon. Over two years in the making and valued at over $500,000.00 CAD, this piano has been painted in a subtle grey hue with an acrylic paint that contains powdered argillite. It has been titled Kuniisii - Music and Mythology and it will be played by various pianists from now until next spring - after the Olympics - when it will be auctioned off. Partial proceeds will go to the BC Lions Easter Seals Society. This unique creation is the result of a collaboration between Tom Lee Music, Steinway & Sons, Jay Simeon and the BC Lions Easter Seals Society. Congratulations Jay!
